Sessions and Schoolhouse Rock
I first saw this story on Wonkette, but I wasn’t sure if that counted as a reliable source. But then CNN confirmed that our most distinguished senator embarrassed himself and the entire state of Alabama by taking to the floor of the US Senate for three hours with a Schoolhouse Rock poster by his side. Here’s what was said in the Situation Room:
SEN. JEFF SESSIONS (R), ALABAMA: I want to share a few things about how a bill should become law and what we were taught in grade school about it.
BASH: leading Republican critic Jeff Sessions displayed a poster evoking the cartoon, “Schoolhouse Rock.”

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I’m just a bill. Yes, I’m only a bill. And I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
And Thomason Tracts weighed in:
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, though I think Schoolhouse Rock may be a couple of years too advanced for Sessions.

[…] During Tuesday’s immigration debate on the floor of the Senate, Jeff Sessions secured and had to fill three hours of time. We’ve already mentioned how he spent some of that time trying to explain how a bill becomes a law. […]
