Pouncing on his Face the Nation interview, Birmingham Weekly examines Jeff Sessions’ shifting position on Iraq.
I encourage you to read the entire piece, but here’s a snippet to whet your appetite:
Could it be that Sessions is losing his nerve? At one time he was perceived to be politically invulnerable in conservative Alabama, but if […]

The Washington Times reports on growing discord within the Republican party over the immigration bill:
President Bush yesterday rebuked members of his own political party for trying to “frighten people” into opposing his immigration bill, prompting a quick backlash from some Republicans.
“Those determined to find fault with this bill will always be able to look at […]

Left in Alabama dug up video of Jeff Sessions’ recent performance on the floor of the Senate. It’s cringe-inducing in parts:

Jeff Sessions appeared on Face the Nation (video, transcript) this past Sunday morning, and performed an about-face on his recent Iraq rhetoric. Sessions signaled that he no longer supports a lasting occupation of Iraq and that he would likely support troop withdrawals beginning in September.

The Birmingham News did a much better job of actually catching what Gov. Dean said about Jeff Sessions:
Looking ahead at the 2008 race for the U.S. Senate, Dean hinted that the party at the national level is interested in throwing resources - that means money - into an effort to upset Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions, […]

DNC Chairman Howard Dean visited Birmingham today for national party fundraising efforts. At this morning’s breakfast, Dean started off his remarks with a reference to the 2008 US Senate race. While it was only slightly more than an obligatory mention, it was certainly nice to see the national party acknowledge that there might be a […]

During Tuesday’s immigration debate on the floor of the Senate, Jeff Sessions secured and had to fill three hours of time. We’ve already mentioned how he spent some of that time trying to explain how a bill becomes a law.
As Joe has pointed out, listening to Sessions for three hours has got to be one […]
